Of all the annual celebrations the Old Town community puts on, the George Washington Birthday Parade is one of the most treasured and attracts locals and DMV residents of all ages. This year marks the 285th anniversary of the famous Alexandria native and Founding Father’s birth, and excitement around town is building!

In only ten short days the George Washington Birthday Parade will wind through a one-mile route in historic Old Town. Thousands will line the streets to cheer on hundreds of parade participants including community and youth groups, historical groups, local bands, and more. The parade begins at 1 pm on Saturday, February 20th and starts at the intersection of Gibbon and Fairfax Street.
Little Known Facts About George Washington
Washington was elected into office, but he never formally ran for President. In 1789 and again in 1792 he was unanimously elected into office by the Electoral College. To this day he is still the only President to win by unanimous vote.
